10. Kisuke Urahara
Kisuke Urahara may not have the overwhelming raw power of the characters above him, but his intelligence makes him one of the most dangerous people in Bleach.
The former captain of Squad 12 possesses an incredibly versatile Bankai, Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame, which can restructure anything within its range.
But Urahara's greatest weapon is his brain. His ability to analyze abilities, prepare countermeasures, and develop completely new technologies makes him incredibly difficult to defeat. 9. Lille Barro
Lille Barro was the first Quincy to receive a Schrift directly from Yhwach and served as the leader of the Schutzstaffel.
His Schrift, X-Axis, allows his attacks to completely ignore conventional durability, making almost any defense meaningless.
When Lille opens his eyes, his abilities become even more terrifying. He can become intangible and eventually transform into a monstrous, almost divine form capable of devastating attacks from enormous distances.
His fight against Shunsui demonstrates just how difficult he is to kill.

8. Gerard Valkyrie
Gerard Valkyrie possesses one of the most absurd abilities in Bleach.
His Schrift, The Miracle, allows seemingly impossible events to become reality, particularly when he is pushed into increasingly desperate situations.
The more damage and despair surrounding him, the more powerful and enormous Gerard can become.
He survives attacks from some of the strongest Soul Reapers and continues evolving throughout the battle.
Even multiple powerful Bankai users struggle to put him down permanently.
Gerard's ability essentially turns losing into another opportunity to become stronger, making him one of the hardest characters in Bleach to defeat through conventional combat.
7. Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto
Yamamoto was the original Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 and one of the most terrifying Soul Reapers in history.
His Bankai, Zanka no Tachi, concentrates the flames of Ryujin Jakka into his blade, creating heat powerful enough to threaten everything around him.
Its four abilities provide devastating offense and defense, including flames capable of reducing anything they touch to ash.
Yamamoto's spiritual pressure and centuries of combat experience make him an overwhelming opponent.
Even after all these years, very few Soul Reapers could stand against the full power of the old Captain-Commander.
6. Kenpachi Zaraki
Kenpachi spent most of his life deliberately suppressing his own strength because he wanted his battles to last longer.
Once he finally accepts his true power, the difference is ridiculous.
His Shikai, Nozarashi, gives him immense destructive power, while his Bankai transforms him into a terrifying berserker capable of cutting through enormous opponents with brute force.
Kenpachi's physical strength and durability are among the highest in the series.
His battle against Gerard demonstrates why he is considered one of the strongest pure combatants in Bleach.

5. Ichibe Hyosube
Ichibe Hyosube is the leader of the Royal Guard and one of the oldest and most powerful Soul Reapers.
His abilities go far beyond conventional swordsmanship.
Ichibe's Zanpakuto, Ichimonji, allows him to manipulate names, and because names hold power in the Bleach universe, this gives him an extraordinarily dangerous ability. He can strip opponents of their power and even redefine what they are.

4. Sosuke Aizen
Aizen is one of the most dangerous characters in Bleach because his strength comes from both overwhelming spiritual power and extraordinary intelligence.
His Zanpakuto, Kyoka Suigetsu, gives him complete hypnosis over his opponents' senses, making it nearly impossible to distinguish reality from illusion.
After undergoing the Hogyoku's transformation, Aizen reaches a level far beyond that of an ordinary Soul Reaper.

At his peak, Ichigo is capable of fighting Yhwach directly, making him one of the only characters in the entire series capable of challenging the Quincy King in battle.
2. Soul King
The Soul King is the mysterious being whose existence holds the entire structure of the Bleach universe together.
Unlike most characters on this list, we don't get to see the full extent of his combat abilities. However, his spiritual power and role in maintaining the balance between the worlds place him on an entirely different level.
The Soul King's power was so significant that Yhwach sought to absorb it to reach his ultimate form.
His existence is fundamentally connected to the Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the Human World. Even though his actual combat feats are limited, his importance and power make him one of Bleach's most extraordinary beings.
1. Yhwach
Yhwach is the strongest active character in Bleach and the ultimate antagonist of the Thousand-Year Blood War.
As the Quincy King, he possesses enormous spiritual power and an army of powerful Quincy under his command.
But his greatest weapon is The Almighty.
After awakening it fully, Yhwach can perceive countless possible futures and alter them to his advantage. This makes conventional attacks almost meaningless because he can effectively rewrite the outcome of events. After absorbing the Soul King, his power reaches an even more terrifying level.
Even Ichigo, Aizen, and other elite fighters struggle to overcome him.
Yhwach isn't simply powerful.
He can change the future itself.
Honorable Mentions
Bleach has an enormous number of characters who could easily enter a broader top twenty. Shunsui Kyoraku, Jugram Haschwalth, Uryu Ishida, Toshiro Hitsugaya, Senjumaru Shutara, Oetsu Nimaiya, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Unohana, and Ukitake all deserve recognition.
And then there's Sosuke Aizen's biggest competition for fan-favorite menace: Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez.

Bleach's strongest characters go far beyond ordinary swordsmanship.
